Embracing the Lockdown Lifestyle

The UK is under tough – but necessary – restrictions as we all do our bit to battle Covid-19.

The development of vaccines have given lots of people hope for a way out. They offer a light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel. However, until they are fully rolled out across the country we all have a part to play so that we can beat the virus.

One of those ways is staying at home. The fact that non-essential retailers have been forced to temporarily close has been very difficult for a lot of people to cope with. So here are some ways that we can enjoy our lives without clothes shopping and getting our hair cut.

It goes without saying that the restrictions are taking their toll on a lot of people’s mental well-being. Fortunately, there are several things that we can all be doing to look after our mental well-being.

The NHS has launched a campaign called Every Mind Matters. It shows some simple steps that you can take to help manage your anxiety, sleep a bit better and generally boost your mood until the non-essential shops open again.

It Could be Worse

When it comes down to it, it’s worth putting things into perspective. Thousands of people working for the NHS, in supermarkets, and holding up our other vital infrastructure are working on the frontline, risking their own health. All we’ve been asked to do is obey the rules and stay at home. Embrace the different lifestyle of being confined to your home.

While it’s not possible to physically be there with many of our loved ones at the moment, it is still possible to see them and catch up with what they’ve not been doing. New technologies and platforms such as Zoom allow us to keep in touch with family, friends, tutors and work colleagues. Not only that, but there are also plenty of ways to keep ourselves virtually amused with a whole host of quizzes, games and free tutorials available online.

Exercise, DIY and Daily Routines Help People Cope

Embracing the Lockdown Lifestyle

We are creatures of habit. Before now we used to get up, go to work, come home to sleep and then do it all again tomorrow. Many of us are used to this lifestyle. Just because the new normal is different, we can still satisfy our carnal desires for structure.

By sticking to a daily routine involving working from home, exercise and improving our living spaces we can continue to feel a sense of purpose. Even if we don’t have one. If you do exercise, remember to log your workout on social media. And if you really need a useful way to cope with the lockdown, consider Clapping for Heroes.
